The Winnipeg bellydance community is incredibly excited to present our fifth Shivers & Shimmies gala show, with all new performances. And this time, we're bringing along a special guest: international bellydance star Ashley Rhianne of Vancouver! She's only here this one weekend, so don't miss it.
The show is Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the Rachel Browne theatre (211 Bannatyne, second floor) and doors open at 7pm sharp. Tickets are 25$.
Ashley Rhianne
Ashley Rhianne took her first Middle Eastern dance class in 1995 after years of studying ballet and jazz as a child and teen. She has continued to further her dance training by studying extensively with Egyptian dancers & teachers both in Egypt & around the world. To date, Ashley Rhianne has performed throughout Canada, the USA, Trinidad, Egypt, Ecuador, Ukraine, Brazil, Vietnam, and in the UK, and has performed in many festivals, multicultural events, theatres, and on television.
Kevla
Kevla is a professional bellydance performer and teacher in Winnipeg. She's performed across Canada and in the US, and is known for her musicality, playfulness, and dedication to the art form.
Tatiana Tarasova
Tatiana is a multi award-winning dancer, who has danced across several continents and wows audiences wherever she goes. Originally from the Ukraine, she's now located here in Winnipeg, much to our gain!
Rivka
Rivka started her dance studies in Toronto, with the renowned Arabesque Dance. Since coming to Winnipeg, she's become an in-demand perfomer, and is always looking for new ways to expand her dance studies.
Karla Yanina
Karla is a longtime member of the Winnipeg bellydance community, and has taught and performed for many years. She's a respected wealth of knowledge on Egyptian dance and its many styles (including bellydance!)
Prairie Crocus
Prairie Crocus is a trio of dedicated dancers with several decades of experience between them. They've been known to do a bit of everything: classical, modern, folkloric, and fusion!
Kalila
Kalila is a longtime fixture in the Winnipeg bellydance scene, and for good reason! She teaches classes through the Winnipeg Leisure guide, and enjoys sharing her love of dance through every performance she does.
Mazara
The first time Mazara saw a bellydance performance, she knew what she had to do. She immediately began searching for classes around her, and she's never looked back! Most recently, she was seen at the Egyptian pavilion at Folklorama.
Zerrin
Zerrin's love for bellydance has taken her to study in Turkey (where she'll be returning this spring!), as well as parts of Canada. She's also a veteran of the Egyptian pavilion at Folklorama.
Folklorama Egyptian Performance Group
The Folklorama Egyptian Performance Group is a collective of individual artists who come together each year to perform unique folkloric and bellydance dances at the Egyptian pavilion at Folklorama.
Brandi
Brandi is a Winnipeg-based bellydancer who loves the freedom and expression of movement. She enjoys the lifelong process of learning dance and is excited to join in her first gala show here at Shivers & Shimmies!
Ve Takim
Ve Takim is a collaborative bellydance performance group interested in both classical and theatrical bellydance. This will be their debut performance as a group!
Alma's Art Studio
Alma's Art Studio is a semi-professional performance group led by Tatiana Tarasova.
